Starlight

Starlight is a series of public sculptures based on historic star charts used for naked-eye stargazing. Reimagined for contemporary audiences, these works reconnect communities with one of humanity's oldest shared resources: the night sky. Combining assemblage, cartography, astronomy, and environmental stewardship, each installation functions as both a work of art and a public observatory, translating the local celestial landscape into an accessible, immersive experience that encourages curiosity, lifelong learning, and community connection.

At a time when light pollution obscures the Milky Way for much of the population and disconnects communities from natural cycles, Starlight offers a model for public art that is simultaneously educational, contemplative, and ecologically responsible. By making the local night sky visible, legible, and beautiful, Starlight promotes public well-being, place-based learning, and a renewed sense of connection to the planetary systems that sustain us.
